The winner will be named – along with the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year and UEFA Champions League positional award winners – during the group stage draw in Monaco on Thursday 29 August. The UEFA Europa League Player of the Season will be announced the following day.

PSG have rejected offers for Neymar from Barcelona AND Real Madrid.

Barcelona offered 100m euros (£92.4m) plus Philippe Coutinho.

Ivan Rakitic was also discussed with the French club as part of the deal for the 27-year-old Brazil international.

Real Madrid also put forward a deal that includes money as well as Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez.

PSG asked for Vinicius Junior but Real did not put his name in the frame.

Neither bid has been accepted, but it is thought PSG would prefer to sell to Real Madrid.

Rivaldo: Neymar joining Real Madrid wouldn’t be a betrayal.

“If Zinedine Zidane signs Neymar for Real Madrid, I won’t see it as a betrayal,” RIvaldo explained in an interview with Betfair.

“Neymar left Barcelona to sign for PSG and now could fly to Real Madrid.

“It’s not the same as if he had left Barcelona for Real Madrid.

“He must also be professional, but I bet that if he has the chance to get back to a place where he was happy before, and where he knows most of the players, he would love to return to Barcelona.

“But that depends on the offer Barcelona could make for him.

“PSG won’t accept a lesser offer from Barcelona just because Neymar prefers to go there.

“They don’t want to lose money and will obviously accept the best offer available.”

Vinicius Junior already appears to have fallen down the pecking order at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu under Zidane and, while many people believe Neymar’s arrival would further accentuate that, Rivaldo isn’t so sure that it would be a bad thing for the teenager.

“Some people argue that Vinicius will lose his place in the Real Madrid squad if Neymar arrives, but I don’t see it that way,” he said.

“Any young player would learn a lot from playing with Neymar and it could help the young Brazilian’s career.

“It doesn’t make sense for Vincius to consider moving to another club to play more often.

“Instead, he must continue working and learning each day, waiting for opportunities to prove his value.”

Mo Salah here, saying that if you gave Pep Guardiola a choice of winning the Premier League or the Champions League he would choose the Champions League…before going on to say he wasn’t talking about Pep Guardiola but himself.

Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini, who is a serving senior customs officer admitted in a telephone chat with Ghancrusader that former President Mahama indeed helped him at a point in time in his life.

“Oh yes. John Mahama is my cousin. We are brothers. When my problem came, I went to him when he was vice president. He intervened and I was reinstated into Customs.

“He was vice president for all Ghanaians, not only for NDC members. I am a citizen of Ghana, if I have a problem or injustice done to me, his office is a public office I can approach. He took an oath to serve all Ghanaians, to be fair to all.”

He added, “I didn’t stab or betray John Mahama. I am not an NDC man. I am NPP. My brother, all of us can’t be in the same political party. Take Abu Jinapor and John Jinapor for example. Are they all in the same political party? No. We are all seeking to build our country irrespective of political party affiliations. So let’s rise up together. Even my brother John Mahama himself told me that we can not all be in the same political party.”

On why he has not resigned from the Ghana Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) before joining the NPP parliamentary primaries race, Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini explained that he has not filed yet as a confirmed parliamentary candidate to the Electoral Commission.

“This is an internal primaries. The Supreme Court ruled on this matter long ago. The decision is there for all to check. Civil and public servants have a capping as to when they have fully joined frontline politics. So if I win the primaries and go ahead to file at the EC, I can now resign from the service,” he expatiated.

Alhaji Mahama Asei Seini, who has served in CEPS for 35years, disclosed that he is due to retire from CEPS by July next year and will not hesitate to do that if the time is ripe.

Tanzanian Govt To Publish Names Of Married Men To Protect Single Ladies From Heartbreaks

Married men in Tanzania are still going in for young ladies under the pretext that they’re still single.

Some of these young ladies give in to them only to later realise that they were deceived.

Taking cue from the severe heartbreaks that some of these ladies go through, the Government has decided to put a new initiative in place. By these, they’ll publish names of all married men on a portal where ladies can be able to see the names of the men they’re dating to determine if they’re already married or not.

“These cunning men have left many women nursing heartbreaks and emotional bruises. You’ll find a young man successfully wooing a woman, making her leave every other thing that she does, hoping that the man will marry her, not knowing that he is, indeed, conning her.

“If you look at the laws that we have in the country, there is a clause that protects women, who were promised marriages, only to be used and dumped. We want to use that clause to bring sanity in relationships.”

If adopted, all married people would be required to register their marital statuses with the region’s database agency. Any woman who has been promised marriage can then access the database to find out if the man who has made that promise is already married or not.

In that database, all the marriages, including Christian, customary, Muslim, those filed at the registrar of marriages, will be registered, Makonda said.

“We want to reduce the cases of men conning women in the name of love and marriages.

“We are planning to meet the State agency in charge of the citizens’ database. Once that meeting is done, you, who lied to a woman that you will marry her, but ended up using and dumping her, be prepared, we are coming for you.”

Sierra Leone government rejects appointment of Sellas Tetteh as Leone Stars coach.

The Government of Sierra Leone has rejected the appointment of Ghanaian trainer Sellas Tetteh as the head coach of the Leone Stars.

The Sierra Leone Football Association confirmed the appointment of the Ghana Under-20 World Cup winner as their new man on Tuesday but the government has rejected the appointment insisting the process to appoint a new gaffer was incomplete.

“Therefore the Ministry does not recognize Sellas Tetteh as the Head Coach of the Sierra Leone National Team A because the process was incomplete,” part of a statement released on.

“The Ministry of Sports want to assure all Sierra Leoneans that the government is committed to supporting sports in the country and the process of appointing the National Team A coach will soon come to a conclusion.”

Lampard insists he’s sticking with the youngsters in UEFA Super Cup clash

Lampard intends to stick with the likes of Mason Mount and Andreas Christensen even if it could turn put to be another steep learning curve against the European champions.

Lampard said: “With regards to picking inexperienced or experienced teams, I completely pick the best team I see to win the game regardless of age. I think it’s very important to have a competitive team.

“Yes if young players are showing what hey can do in training and deserve there chance – for example Mason Mount deserves his chance completely on merit as opposed to age I will have no fears to play young players because it’s important for a club like Chelsea that we do that. But they need to deserve their chance.

“We have to respect the strengths of the team we are playing. And Liverpool is a different challenge to Manchester United, that doesn’t mean we are willing to concede ground or defend our own box. There may be subtle changes in our approach but what has to stay is the intensity of our work rate.”

Lampard was asked whether managing Chelsea was like a roller coaster from the trials of taking over a club under a transfer embargo to losing at Old Trafford and now, just three days later, a cup final.

Lampard added: “This week is a good example of that roller coaster – but I had a year at Derby last season where I had similar roller coasters. I think that comes with managers jobs, particularly at clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City – all the bigger teams.
